Anchoring, or “grounding”, is a fundamental practice in various wellness and relaxation disciplines. It’s also known by other terms such as spiritual anchoring, energetic anchoring and earth anchoring, but they all essentially refer to the same concept.
Understanding Spiritual Anchoring
Spiritual anchoring connects directly to our root chakra, the base chakra located at the perineum. During my sessions, I’ve observed that many people lack anchoring, often without being aware of it. But what exactly does it mean to be anchored?
Being anchored is like being a tree: deeply and firmly connected to the Earth through our root chakra and more. Just as a tree needs strong roots to grow and strengthen, we need energetic roots to anchor deep energies in our bodies and the material world. This connection allows us to embody our soul’s energy in everyday life, feeling at home on this Earth.
Signs of a lack of anchorage
Many people don’t realize that they lack anchoring until they feel the symptoms:
- Frequent anxiety and fear
- Tendency to think a lot and get distracted
- Low self-confidence
- Feeling displaced or unworthy
- Chronic fatigue and sleep problems
- Emotional hypersensitivity
- Difficulty setting limits and respecting oneself
- Emotional or behavioral dependencies
- Physical symptoms such as leg, foot or back problems
- Difficulty connecting with intuition
The Benefits of Effective Anchoring

How to Improve Your Anchoring
If you suspect a lack of anchoring, simple activities can help:
- Walking barefoot on the grass
- Interact with nature through walks or gardening
- Reconnecting with physical sensations through body care or sport
- Practice daily meditation, visualizing deep roots extending from your body into the Earth, stabilizing and recharging you with Earth energy.
- Visualize your root chakra filled with vibrant red energy
Stay attuned to your emotional and physical needs-your well-being depends on it.
Just breathe
